KOSMOS / RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION

Basement insulation

A basement needs a moisture strategy before an insulation specification. Covering a wall without understanding water entry or condensation can conceal rather than solve a problem.

Plan the work as a whole.

Assess the existing structure, moisture sources, drainage and intended use with the appropriate specialists. Waterproofing, ventilation, thermal details and services must be coordinated for the actual conditions.

Care at every interface.

KOSMOS can discuss the construction work and coordination required for an agreed design. The related insulation photographs below show workmanship in other parts of our projects; they are not presented as completed basement installations.

Questions before you build.

Is insulation the same as basement waterproofing?

No. Insulation, waterproofing and ventilation serve different purposes and need a coordinated design appropriate to the existing basement.

What should I send for an initial discussion?

Send photographs, the intended use, known water-entry history and any survey or specialist report. A site assessment may be needed before a specification can be agreed.
